Abstract
According to the World Bank (2005), there are 4 billion people living on an income less than US$3 per day and 1 billion living less than even US$1 per day. This part of the population is often called "Base-of-the-Pyramid" (BoP). BoP is a definition of user and consumer group in product design science. Recently, some special innovations on BoP in product design science are in request according to limited experience from Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering, Delft University of Technology (IDE/DUT). These experiences come from literatures and design practices. This paper is the result of the empirical research, which indicates a new innovation model for BoP design cases: four domain model and this model has been proven through BoP design cases.
